When and Where is the Market of Curiosities?
The Market of Curiosities takes place on December 2nd, 2023. Doors open at 11:00 am and close at 6:00 pm. Circus Stella and Randy Shine will perform at 2:00 and 5:00 pm. The market will be hosted at the Carlisle Expo Center at 100 K Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
Is there an entrance fee?
Yes, there is a fee of $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children under 18 years old, $3.00 for students with a valid school ID, and free for children under the age of 12. Please bring cash for your entrance fee. There is spotty WiFi where payment is accepted, and there are no guarantees that our credit card system will work. CASH IS KING!
Will there be off-street parking?
Yes! The Carlisle Expo Center has a 300-space parking lot, and overflow parking is available at the fairgrounds one block away.
Is the Carlisle Expo Center accessible to all?
Yes! The Carlisle Expo Center is completely accessible.
Is this event appropriate for children?
The Market of Curiosities supports your parenting decisions. No one knows what environment is appropriate for your child like you. Please consider the following environmental factors and make your decisions accordingly. Many people and a DJ will be cranking out loud tunes all day. If loud noises or big crowds negatively affect your child, please take this into consideration. People will be drinking. If the idea of alcohol around your child feels unsettling, you might consider getting a babysitter. Additionally, we can't promise everyone's language and products throughout the market will be child- or family-friendly. If you want to bring your child, we don't anticipate any problems but want you to be able to make a fully informed choice.
Will there be any COVID-19 safety protocols?
As of today, December 4, 2022, we have not implemented any COVID-19 protocols. We ask that you check back closer to the date of the Market of Curiosities for an update on this decision.
How do I become a vendor at the 2023 Market of Curiosities?
The application process for the 2023 show will be open between July 1st - August 31st. If you would like to be added to our application reminder list, please provide your information on the Apply Page on our website.
What type of vendors are you looking for?
We're looking for unique jewelry, cool t-shirts, vintage housewares, yummy foods and drinks, handcrafted toys, cutie pet supplies, interesting housewares, original art, accessories, stationery, photography, hygiene items, and whatever you got that you think would be a cool addition to our market. Only handmade and vintage items will be sold. We're looking for vendors who sell items from $5.00 to $100.00. It's our goal to provide our attendees with the opportunity to shop if they have $10.00 or $100.00 in their pocket. Remember, the Market of Curiosities is an odd market for everybody!
*No Third Party Companies or Multi-Level Marketing Companies will be accepted to vend at the Market of Curiosities. Please do not apply or send an email requesting a booth.
How are vendors chosen?
Applicants will be chosen by a panel of individuals who are valued for their expertise in knowledge of vintage goods, handmade items, and all things curious. These individuals are well-trained in the vision and goal of the Market of Curiosities. They will use a system that looks objectively at each applicant and assigns them a score based on how well their product fits our market and how well it fits their product. We're creating a well-curated event where all vendors offer something unique for our attendees. However, please be aware that we're a kind and supportive group dedicated to creating an opportunity for our vendors to shine. So apply today!
Important dates to consider for applicants and vendors?
November 1st, 2023 - Last day to cancel and receive a partial refund of half the cost of your booth
December 1st, 2023 - You may load in the day before the event from 12:00 - 8:00.
December 2nd, 2023 - load-in for vendors begins at 8:00 AM.
December 2nd, 20023 - Market of Curiosities opens its doors at 11:00 am and closes at 7:00 PM.
